A pendulum-type egg-sorting scale. Used to classify eggs into the correct size group - large, medium, or small. The weight of the egg affects the angle at which the mechanism points on the measuring arc. Similar to this scale were ancient letter scales used to determine the postage of postal items. Today, these are collector's items.
