Protractor and coordinates, Silkograph

The protractor and coordinate gauge manufactured by Silkograph is an auxiliary tool used for: navigation, reading maps and technical drawing. The tool is mainly used to perform the following operations:

Azimuth measurement, determining the angle between north and the direction of the target on the map (in degrees or thousandths), Finding reference points (reference points)

finding the exact coordinates of a point on the map.

using the scale bars integrated into the tool (usually in 1:50,000 or 1:100,000 k"m).

Due to Silkograph's expertise in printing on plastic, the gauges it produced were characterized by high durability and transparency, which allows them to be placed on  the map without hiding the topographic detail.

Very commonly used in the IDF, youth movements and navigation courses, as a

tool for learning the basics of topography.
